Develosaur vs Beads
Beads is a git-synced issue graph coding agents use as memory from the CLI. Develosaur is a live board agents and people share.
Facts checked on 13 September 2026 against the sources at the end of this page.
Who each is for
Beads
Developers running coding agents in a repo who want a dependency-aware issue graph as the agent's memory, synced like code and driven from the command line.
Develosaur
Teams and developers who want the plan on a board they can see and reorder, used by agents from several vendors and by chat apps like claude.ai and ChatGPT.
Side by side
| Aspect | Beads | Develosaur |
|---|---|---|
| Where the plan lives | A Dolt database in the repo, synced through git remotes. | A hosted live board. The desktop app can also serve your boards from your own machine. |
| Agents that can use it | The bd CLI, with setup commands for Claude Code, Codex CLI, Factory Droid and Cursor, plus a beads-mcp package. | Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Cline, Gemini CLI, VS Code and any MCP client through one address with a browser sign-in, plus REST for anything that makes HTTP calls. |
| Several agents at once | bd update --claim takes a task atomically, and hash-based IDs avoid merge collisions. | Starting a task claims it for one agent. Another agent is refused until the task is finished or released, and the claim expires if its agent goes quiet. |
| Visual board | None in the project. The README points to community tools. | A live canvas in the browser. |
| Team visibility | Teammates who sync the same remote see the same graph, from the CLI. | Everyone you invite sees the board and every change live in the browser. |
| Works in claude.ai and ChatGPT | Not listed. | Yes, claude.ai and ChatGPT connect as connectors. |
| License | MIT. | Not open source. A hosted service with a desktop app. |
| Price | Free. | Free $0, Pro $12 per month, Team $15 per editor per month (minimum 3 editors). Agents are never billed. |
Where Beads is the better choice
- The graph travels with the repo and syncs across machines through git remotes, with no hosted service.
- Claims and dependency tracking are built for agents and fully scriptable from the CLI.
- It is free and open source under MIT.
Try Develosaur
Paste this into your agent. It builds a temporary board you can keep later:
Read https://mcp.develosaur.com/llms.txt and use it to build me a develosaur board for my projectQuestions
Does Beads have claims too?
Yes: bd update --claim sets the assignee and status in one step. In Develosaur a claim also expires on its own if the agent goes quiet, and the board shows who holds what.
Which one fits a solo developer?
If you live in the terminal and want the plan in git, Beads fits. If you want to see and reorder the plan on a board, or reach it from claude.ai or ChatGPT, pick Develosaur.
Does Develosaur cost anything?
The Free plan covers one project, and agents are never billed on any plan. Plans: Free $0, Pro $12 per month, Team $15 per editor per month (minimum 3 editors).
Can I try Develosaur without an account?
Yes. Paste this into an agent that can fetch URLs: "Read https://mcp.develosaur.com/llms.txt and use it to build me a develosaur board for my project". It builds a trial board you can keep later.
